For an additional layer of protection, these fabric face masks include a pocket to insert a replaceable filter such as:
- HEPA filter (from vacuums, purifiers etc.) // Basically you buy any filter for either a vacuum, air purifier, or air conditioner. You then deconstruct it to use the encased fabric, cut into small face mask sized pieces and sew pleats. Here is a link to a helpful How-To Video.
- Coffee filter // This one is self explanatory. Simply cut up a coffee filter into a face mask size and insert into your mask. This is not as effective as a HEPA filter, but it can filter out at least a little bit of air particles.
- A piece of flannel // If using a filter // This is the least effective option, but just serves as an added layer and still better than fabric alone.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE AND AFTER PUTTING ON / TAKING OFF YOUR MASK AND THAT IT IS BEST TO DISPOSE OF FILTER AFTER ONE USE.
