My darling youngest daughter is ONE! We didn’t want to let circumstances take away our opportunity to celebrate in a special way. So, we came up with this custom design swan themed 1st birthday and built it from scratch. Similar to my oldest daughters birthday, I sketched it all out on my ipad pro in procreate. My sweet little babe is the precious and special swan that emerged from 2020 and she was the most amazing gift that could have ever come out of the year. Her arrival equipped us with a strength that we didn’t know we even needed to endure a year like 2020. Her and I were warriors before the pandemic even began. She prepared our hearts for putting into perspective what truly matters in the world.

So here is the design I came up with and with a little help from my husband and a friend we built most of it ourselves. We bought, cut, sanded, and painted the wood in just the right shapes. I decided on a swan themed 1st birthday because of the symbolism that it holds. And after a year like 2020, I think it was quite fitting. Our daughters birthdays are close together so I designed something that could be used again 2 weeks later. The moon is for my youngest (her middle name is Luna), and the start are for my oldest. Together they are my moon and my starts (get it?). <3 The happy birthday lettering is meant to be detachable so that I can but the standalone sign up in their room afterward. Their names will also go in their room too. I wanted to be sure that it all could be recycled and used for more than just 1 day.

The idea was brewing in my brain for a while. The color scheme has been my style since I found out I was pregnant. This was the easiest part to come up with. Throughout the year, these colors brought me peace because of their warm, calming, neutral tones. I think we can all agree that we all needed a bit of peace throughout 2020.
